Duties

The Policy and Regulations team : responsible for coordinating and implementing various legislative aspects for Conservation and Protection (liaison with prosecutors, legal advice, legal training, opening and closing of fishing areas, etc.), managing and coordinating national programs (Aquatic Invasive Species Program, Fish Habitat Management Program, Aquaculture Program, etc.) and developing regulations and policies.

Main tasks of the position:
- Provide guidance, technical and legal advice as well as recommendations to the various units of the regional directorate of conservation and protection and by extension to the regional directorate of fisheries management;
- Carry out the delivery of the judicial liaison program for the Quebec region, which includes, but is not limited to, the review of legal files (tickets and report to the crown counsel), the training of fisheries officers as well as the establishment and maintaining links with judicial partners;
- Perform regional coordination of regulatory programs, in collaboration with other members of the policy and regulatory team;
- Support the issuance of variation orders on an ad hoc basis in collaboration with the other members of the policy and regulatory team;
- Participate and contribute to various working groups, in order to support national and regional files and priorities, as well as the general orientation of the conservation and protection program;
- Support legal and regulatory amendments projects.

Intent of the process

The intent of the process is to staff 1 Senior Compliance Officer - Liaison Officer position on an indeterminate basis. This pool of qualified candidates could be used to fill other positions with various security clearances and various linguistic profiles at Conservation and Protection in the Quebec region.

🎓EDUCATION

Degree equivalency

EXPÉRIENCE
Recent and significant experience* in conducting investigations in the field of fishing or other field(s) of law enforcement.
OR
Recent and significant experience* as an expert in the context of fisheries investigations or other area(s) of law enforcement.

* “Recent and significant experience” is defined as experience acquired over a period of at least three (3) years within the last five (5) years.

⭐EDUCATION (ASSET)
Successful completion of post-secondary education in a relevant field**.
