This position is responsible for the supervision, coordination and delivery of healthcare and clinical services to offenders in an institutional setting within the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC). They also contribute to the development and implementation of strategic plans and operational policies and procedures. They supervise a team of nursing staff, service providers and support staff, providing input into human resource requirements within budgetary allocations, including overseeing contracts for professional services.
Correctional Service Canada (CSC) is the federal government agency responsible for administering court imposed sentences of a term of two years or more. CSC manages various security level institutions and supervises offenders under conditional release in the community.
CSC’s mandate is to contribute to public safety by actively encouraging and assisting offenders to become law-abiding citizens, while exercising reasonable, safe, secure and humane control.
The intent of this advertisement is to fill one NU-HOS-05 vacancy at Beaver Creek Institution in Gravenhurst, Ontario. The process may also be used to identify potential candidates for Registered Nurse NU-HOS-03 for employment opportunities with the Correctional Service of Canada in Gravenhurst, Ontario.

Occupational Certification
Current registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse in a province or territory of Canada*, with no conditions or restrictions.
* In order to be appointed, candidates must be registered in the province or territory where the position is being staffed.
Experience
Recent and significant* experience in one or more of the following areas: psychiatric, medical-surgical, emergency or other related fields.
* Recent and significant experience is normally gained over 3 consecutive years within the last 5 years.

Knowledge
Knowledge of nursing management strategies in the delivery of health services.
Knowledge of professional Standards of Practice from the college of Nurses for the respective Province of Work.
Knowledge of the issues and trends affecting the management and delivery of health programs.
Knowledge of relevant legislation and Correctional Service Canada policies (e.g. Commissioner’s Directives).

Education
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in nursing, nursing service administration, nursing education or some other specialty relevant to the position.
