In the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB) of Indigenous Services Canada, we strive to provide access to quality health services, improve health outcomes, and support greater control of the health system by First Nations and Inuit.

We are searching for collaborative and strategic individuals who enjoy working in a dynamic and energetic environment, with a strong focus on quality client service. We are currently looking to staff various positions of the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch's Program and Administrative Services Group that provide program and support services. These positions will be primarily involved in the planning, development, delivery or management of administrative and federal government policies, programs, services or other activities directed to the public. By joining our team, you will have opportunity to provide direct support to health services and community-based programming. You will build and support strong working relationships with First Nations and Inuit communities, families, and
individuals, with a focus on improving health outcomes and reducing health risks.

Intent of the process

This process will be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates which may be used to staff indeterminate, term, secondment, assignment, deployment or acting appointments.

The intent is also to staff positions via the Aboriginal Peoples Employment Program (APEP), which aims to strategically increase Aboriginal representation within the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB). As This process will be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates which may be used to staff indeterminate, term, secondment, assignment, deployment or acting appointments.

Education
A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives*.

Note: the employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are: A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience
1. Significant experience* in the delivery of social or health benefit programs.
2. Experience coaching or mentoring others.
3. Experience providing recommendations to management on policy, program or client-service related issues
4. Experience in working with word processing, spreadsheets, and data base software to prepare various documents.

*Significant experience is defined as having the depth and breadth of experience that would normally be acquired over a period of 1 year or more

Education
- A diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field related to the position OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher studies from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field related to the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience (assets):
- Significant experience* overseeing the delivery of services to a client group
- Experience working in a high volume** call centre.
- Experience in direct supervision of employee and/or group of employees.
- Experience in conducting meetings or information sessions.
- Experience preparing written documents such as proposals, briefing notes or business plans.
- Experience in monitoring contracts, grants, contribution agreements, or funding arrangements.

*Significant experience is defined as having the depth and breadth of experience that would normally be acquired over a period of 1 year or more
**High volume call centre means 40 to 50 of calls per day
