This project involves assessing the potential for H2 storage in a salt dome in the Magdalen Island region. Key objectives of this activity include improving our understanding of heat transfer in salt formation and carrying out hydrogen storage simulations based on specific domes in the regions. The goal is to predict pressure and temperature changes that can happen when charging and discharge a typical underground hydrogen reservoir. The workflow includes numerical model development to simulate injection cycles considering thermodynamic principles coupled with heat transfer in the subsurface. Results will allow to evaluate the volume of hydrogen that can be safely stored in a typical reservoir.
The intention is to staff one student position for the completion of a PhD degree.
