Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) leads the management of Canada’s fisheries and the safeguarding of Canadian waters. The Canadian Coast Guard, a Special Operating Agency within DFO, is responsible for services and programs that contribute to the safety, security, and accessibility of Canada’s waterways.
👋 The intent of this selection process is to staff current vacancies and to create a pool of qualified candidates which may be used to fill identical or similar positions with various tenures and linguistic requirements within Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

EDUCATION
-Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in economics.
Note - Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.
EXPERIENCE
- Significant* experience in conducting economic analysis using quantitative data and methodologies.
- Experience providing advice on appropriate methods for the economic analysis of public policy issues and program development/implementation.
- Experience preparing reports or briefing materials of analytical results and making recommendations to management.
* at least 3 years of experience, up to 18 months of which could be equivalent research experience in an academic institution.
ASSET EDUCATION
- Graduation with a Masters or PhD in Economics or Statistics.
ASSET EXPERIENCE
- Experience conducting cost benefit analysis.
- Experience with the analysis of international trade.
- Experience with the development of economic models and simulations.
- Experience applying economic or statistical analysis to the field of natural resources or fisheries, agri-food or seafood markets, marine transportation, or the coastal or marine environment.
- Experience working with clients or stakeholders to define analytical products suited for purpose.
