Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) informs Canadians about protecting and conserving our natural heritage, and ensuring a clean, safe and sustainable environment for present and future generations. The department is the 11th largest in the public service with employees working in buildings right across Canada.
The Business Applications and Solutions Directorate at ECCC manages all aspects of IT application development and support to meet specific program needs of the department. Software development, database design and providing IT project management leadership are just a few of the services provided by our applications specialists.
Recently, the Strategic Coordination Section was created with a number of teams including:
a project coordination team comprised of IT staff; an IM/IT Planning and Coordination team also comprised of IT staff; and, an administrative team comprised of AS staff.
As the Manager, Administrative Services, you will lead the maturation of a new, centralized AS team with a passion to bring about modern, efficient and effective directorate operations. The team provides modernized executive assistant support to directors in a world of remote work and office automation. It has a mandate to adopt and enable new and efficient office automation methods to enable greater efficiency in performing administrative tasks. In addition, the team coordinates activities at the directorate-level including communications, awareness activities, and procurements. It is expected that the team will begin to ensure both project and organizational reporting are possible, feasible and as efficient as possible.

Education:
ED1 Successful completion of one year of a post-secondary program with a specialization relevant to the position.
Experience:
EX1 Experience in developing or contributing to strategic plans and change management plans impacting an organization.
EX2 Experience supervising staff through all stages of performance management.
EX3 Experience analyzing information from multiple sources and providing recommendations to senior management on matters related to administrative activities of their organization (e.g. finances, human resources, procurement, information management, project management).
EX4 Experience using an electronic document and records management system (e.g., Sharepoint) to manage documentation based on fiscal year requirements including permissions management, folder management, and records management.
EX5 Experience developing a variety of spreadsheets, presentations, and business processes to support decision-making.
Education (ASSETS):
AED1 Certificate or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in accounting, office administration, business administration or some other field of study relevant to the position.
AED2 Accreditation in project management
AED3 Accreditation in change management
AED4 Any other accreditation relevant to the position.
Experience (ASSET):
AEX1 Experience in managing complex projects which involve internal or external stakeholders.
AEX2 Experience in designing and implementing communications plans/products or engagement activities to guide clients or managers.
AEX3 Experience in identifying systemic IM challenges and in recommending solutions.
AEX4 Experience in data visualization and reporting.
AEX5 Experience in financial analysis, in forecasting and reporting
AEX6 Experience in administrative services related to travel and hospitality.
AEX7 Experience in administrative services related to requests for information.
