Duties

The position is responsible for assisting the regional director and coordinating the flow of information through the regional director’s office. Duties include managing the director’s schedule and inbox, organizing meetings and travel, tracking the flow of documents, preparing written correspondence, and flagging items for the attention of the director’s office.

Overview of ECCC’s Enforcement Branch

Environment and Climate Change Canada employs Enforcement Officers who enforce federal legislation that deals with different risks to the environment. These laws cover, for example, spills to waterways, the use of toxic substances, as well as the import and export of substances that present a risk to the environment and/or human life or health. This position will work within the Prairie and Northern Region, which encompasses MB, SK, AB, NT, and NU. For more information on our work please see:

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to establish a pool of qualified candidates to staff an anticipated vacancy in Edmonton. This process will not be used to staff any other position in any other location.

Education:

A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and / or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:

• Experience in providing *administrative support services to management.

* Administrative support may include:
a. Managing a schedule and/or e-mail on behalf of management, or
b. Arranging or processing travel, or
c. Organizing meetings, preparing meeting files, or minute taking, or
d. Maintaining a document filing system.

• Experience in financial processes or budget tracking.

• Experience in the use of MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Asset Qualifications:

Post-secondary school diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Degree equivalency

Experience as an executive assistant to senior management (i.e. director level or above).

Experience working for an enforcement organization, a natural resources or environmental enforcement organization.
