Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a natural, physical, or applied science with specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position.
Experience in working collaboratively with clients or stakeholders such as other government departments or agencies, non-government organizations, First Nations or industry representatives.
Significant** experience leading or participating in multi-disciplinary teams focused on science based program delivery.
Experience in managing financial and human resources.
Experience preparing and publishing peer reviewed literature and/or technical reports.
Significant** experience in conducting and reporting on quantitative analyses of biological data related to fish population dynamics or stock assessments.
** Significant is understood to mean the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed the full range of activities related to the individual experience factor).

Information on language requirements
Knowledge of the biology and population ecology of Pacific Salmon.
Knowledge of fish stock management concepts and methodologies used to evaluate the status of salmon populations.
Knowledge of fish stock assessment methods and models.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to analyze and interpret biological data using MS Excel.
Ability to work in a team environment.

A Masters or Doctoral degree from a recognized university with a specialization in natural, physical, or applied sciences or other specialization relevant to the position.
Both streams
Experience designing surveys to monitor and assess fisheries or fish populations.
Stream A
Experience in developing and directing stock assessments of fish populations.
Stream B
Significant**experience in stock assessment of fisheries resources including identifying problems and solutions, and communicating recommendations to decision makers on fisheries issues.
Experience writing code using a modern programming language (e.g. R, ADMB, etc.) to analyze and interpret biological data.
Operational Requirements
May be required to work and live in remote field camps and locations for periods up to 3 weeks annually.
May be required annually, for periods up to 3 weeks, to travel to and from meetings in support of program activities.
May be required to work in and around rivers and lakes.
May be required to work overtime, weekends and variable hours to meet operational needs.
May be required to travel to the United States of America.
May be required to fly in helicopters and small fixed wing aircraft.
Reliability Security Clearance. Secret Status may be required for certain positions.
Health Canada Medical Clearance.
Travel to attend meetings and/or conduct field work.
A valid BC Class 5 driver's licence.
Oath of Affirmation.
Attain training and maintain certifications for mandatory and departmental requirements.
