Duties

The RCMP Community Safety and Well Being Branch is committed to improving community safety and outreach to the community. Working towards the prevention of youth involvement in criminal activity and reducing youth victimization, the Community Outreach Section has a new opportunity for a Youth Strategies Coordinator. The position is responsible for liaising with School Resource/Youth Officers, Detachments, Divisional Youth Managers, National Youth Services and other community partners. Coordinators also contribute to the research and development of youth strategies, programs and initiatives that support youth in rural areas in Alberta. The RCMP is proud to work with stakeholders and other partners within the communities we serve, as we recognize the importance of collaboration in improving community safety and well-being. Partnerships allow communities to come together and develop tailored supports and strategies for crime prevention, education and intervention. Increased supports and resources are especially beneficial for children and adolescents, as they are particularly vulnerable and at key stages of development. Consequently, this position plays a critical role in collaboration with community stakeholders through working groups to deliver services to our communities which support our local, provincial and national policing priorities.
Experience with youth and project management would be essential to become part of an integral team to achieve successful outcomes.

The intent of this process is to staff two (2) permanent positions in Edmonton, AB. If a future vacancy comes available, candidates who have been found qualified may be contacted.

A qualified pool of candidates will be established and used to staff this position and similar positions with various tenures (i.e. indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, assignment and secondment) within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Edmonton, Alberta.

Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

Experience providing administrative support in an office environment.
Experience in coordinating, developing and implementing programs for youth.
