We are seeking a dynamic, creative and resourceful team player to join Natural Resource Canada’s Canadian Forest Service as an Indigenous Liaison Officer. This position will support the Northern Forest Mapping program in delivering enhanced wildfire fuels maps for northern Canada.
Key duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Build and maintain relationships and partnerships with Indigenous Peoples and northern communities.
- Coordinate and carry out knowledge exchange activities for Indigenous Peoples and northern communities.
- Provide advice and expertise to internal and external colleagues on the ethical engagement of Indigenous peoples and northern communities.
- Coordinate and assist in the collection of forest mensuration data from northern forests. This may include training northern community members in appropriate forest data collection protocols and best practices.
- Prepare documentation, reports and presentations, as needed.

This position is located in Edmonton. However, since the majority of job duties will be focused on northern projects, we encourage candidates from across the country, particularly those from northern regions, to apply.
The intent of this selection process is to staff one term position of 3 years.
A pool of (fully or partially qualified) candidates may be established through this process to staff with identical or similar positions within Natural Resources Canada with various tenures, various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential, or Bilingual), linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (Reliability status or Secret clearance), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

EDUCATION
• Graduation with a degree in forestry or wood science from a recognized post-secondary institution;
or
• Graduation with a degree in a related science from a recognized post-secondary institution combined with acceptable experience.
EXPERIENCE:
