Intent of the process

The intent of the process is to fill one (1) position with the bilingual imperative CBC/CBC linguistic requirement.

A pool of partially or fully assessed candidates could be established to staff similar positions at the same group and level, with a various linguistic requirement, on an indeterminate or temporary basis within Environment and Climate Change Canada.

Education:
Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
E1. Recent* and significant** experience in researching OHS issues in an operational or a corporate/policy environment for clients.
E2. Recent* and significant** experience in interpreting legislation, providing advice, guidance, and recommendations, on requirements related to OHS, to different levels of management and/or OHS committees.
E3. Recent* and significant** experience in planning, leading, developing and/or contributing to the development of organizational OHS prevention programs, such as policies, directives, guidelines or initiatives.

* "Recent" is defined by experience gained within the last 5 years.

** "Significant experience" means the depth and breadth of experience associated with having performed a broad range of activities related to this task, which are normally acquired over a period of minimum three (3) years.

Note: Experience participating solely as a member of a work place OHS committee is insufficient for this position.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

AED1. Graduation with a degree from recognized university with a specialization in the field of occupational health and safety or a field relevant to the position.
AED2. Successful completion of a post-secondary program with a specialization in the field of occupational health and safety or a field relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

Certified Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation

AE1.Experience in interpreting legislation, providing advice, guidance, and recommendations, on requirements related to OHS, to different levels of management and/or OHS committees under Federal jurisdiction.
AE2. Experience with a specialty in the field of occupational health and safety (eg. Industrial hygiene, ergonomics, etc.).

Knowledge:
K1. Knowledge of principles of accident investigation and principles for managing work place accidents; including knowledge of the agencies involved.
K2. Knowledge of risk assessment processes, such as a job or task hazard analysis program.
K3. Knowledge of current and emerging trends in the field of occupational health and safety.

Abilities/Skills:
A1. Ability to provide advice, guidance, and influence stakeholders on complex issues.
A2. Ability to analyze and synthesize information.
A3. Ability to communicate effectively orally.
A4. Ability to communicate effective in writing.
