Under supervision, the candidate will conduct research to advance public health and knowledge of infectious diseases and contribute to the development of manuscript(s) for peer reviewed publication.
Specific duties will depend on location and area of research.
The Public Health Agency of Canada's National Microbiology Laboratory Branch (NMLB) provides scientific expertise and laboratory capacity for infectious disease monitoring, detection, investigation and outbreak response to support national and international public health action. This process is intended to create and maintain an inventory of eligible Research Affiliate Program (RAP) candidates to fill a variety of positions across the National Microbiology Laboratory Branch (NMLB).

Education:
Enrolled in post-secondary education full time or in an academic program that requires research in the curriculum.
Experience:
Experience in performing or researching methodologies in one or more of the following biological disciplines; microbiology (virology, bacteriology, mycology, parasitology), cell biology, immunology, molecular biology, structural biology, genomics, proteomics, or bioinformatics (depending on the needs of the position).
*In the context of student recruitment in the Federal Public Service, the experience can be acquired through the studies, work experience, or volunteer activities.

Knowledge:
Knowledge of theories, current principles, techniques and procedures used in one or more of the following areas, dependent on the needs of the position being filled; microbiology (virology, bacteriology, mycology, parasitology), cell biology, immunology, molecular biology, structural biology, genomics, proteomics, or bioinformatics.

Secret or Reliability security clearance (depending on the position)
Medical clearance (depending on the position)
