Duties:
• Lead the implementation of the Great Lakes social media presence
• Maintain and enhance Great Lakes and freshwater content on locally managed web platforms
• Support the design and production of Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement and freshwater related reports and products
• Strategic support for the Canada-Ontario Agreement, Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement, and other freshwater-related outreach and engagement efforts through participation on sub-committees, hosting of public webinars, development of data visualization products, presentations and other engagement materials for a public audience.
As a Program Officer or a Senior Program Officer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic engagement initiatives to support Environment and Climate Change Canada’s role to protect the waters of the Great Lakes.
You will engage with stakeholders and partner organizations to provide outreach on environmental challenges faced by the Great Lakes ecosystem and play a pivotal role promoting environmental stewardship and raising awareness of the actions being taken to address these challenges.

To staff one (1) indeterminate position at the PM-03 or PM-04 level (English Essential).
A pool of qualified candidates may be established as part of this process for staffing within ECCC in the Toronto area of identical or similar PM-03 and PM-04 positions of various durations (indeterminate or term), with various language proficiency requirements, various security requirements, and various conditions of employment.

Education:
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Social Science, Graphic Design, Communications or a field within the Environmental Sciences or Studies
Experience:
PM-03 AND PM-04
• Significant* experience communicating environmental science or policy to a public audience, through written presentations, outreach materials, reports and webpages.
• Significant* experience using specialized computer software to design website and printed materials (i.e. Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop or equivalent) to develop products for a public audience.
• Significant* experience in planning and participating in the delivery of conferences or projects with partner organizations.
PM-04 ONLY:
• Significant* experience conducting research and recommending new or innovative engagement opportunities or methods to improve client service.
*Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed these activities over a combined period of at least one (1) year for the PM-03 level, and two (2) years for the PM-04 level.

1. You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be placed into the pool and/or selected for appointment. The asset qualifications may be a deciding factor in selecting the person to be appointed.

3. A pass mark will be established for each qualification for both levels, which may be higher for the PM-04 level. However, achieving the pass mark is not a guarantee of an appointment or that candidates will be put through the next stages of the assessment process. Volume management strategies may be employed at any stage of the selection process, such as the application of asset criteria, a cut-off score or a top-down approach.
Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
