Intent of the process

Although the immediate intent of this poster will be to fill several positions with various linguistic profiles and tenures. Applicants should be aware that this selection process may be used to staff similar positions with various linguistic requirements, various security requirements, various conditions of employment and/or various tenures within the Public Health Agency of Canada in the National Capital Region.

Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post secondary institution with acceptable specialization in Economics, Sociology or Statistics.

Candidates must always have a post secondary institution degree. The courses for the specialization do not necessarily have to be part of a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
Both Streams:
• Significant* experience in monitoring, analysing and synthesizing information relating to policy, program and/or legislation.
• Significant* experience in developing and preparing discussion papers and strategies.
• Significant* experience in providing advice on policy issues to senior management**.

Additional for EC-06 Stream only:
• Experience coordinating or leading the analysis of a wide range of information.
• Experience in formulating and providing recommendations on the impact of economic and/or socio-economic research within the health/health care field on the development of policies, regulations and programs.
• Experience in coordinating or leading stakeholder engagement activities in support of policy development.

*Significant experience refers to the depth and breadth of the experience associated with having performed a broad range of various, complex related activities which are normally acquired over a period of two (2) years (this experience can be acquired through more than one position).
**Senior Management is defined as Director Level (or private sector equivalent) and above.

Asset Education:
Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a master’s degree in a field relevant to the work to be performed

Degree equivalency

Asset Experience:
• Experience managing policy development projects or initiatives.
• Experience representing your department or managing interdepartmental or non-governmental committees or working groups
• Experience in leading or contributing to the development of proposal-based documents (such as Memoranda to Cabinet, Treasury Board or other Cabinet Submissions).
• Experience negotiating agreements with a variety of partners inside or outside government (e.g., other government departments, provinces and territories, Indigenous governments, communities or organizations, international organizations, foreign governments, stakeholders, private sector companies, etc.).
• Experience in statistical analysis, research methods and/or forecasting techniques.

Operational Requirements:
• Willingness and ability to work overtime on short notice.
• Willingness and ability to travel on occasion.
