Intent of the process

This selection process will initially be used to staff two (2) full-time temporary positions.

A pool of qualified candidates inclusive of Public Service (PS) employees and Civilian Members(CM); may be established through this process to staff identical or similar AS-05/ADM-05 positions on a temporary or indeterminate full-time basis.

Please note that an assignment appointment requires approval of your supervisor.

Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

Graduation with a degree specializing in the Social Sciences or Health Sciences OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience in the area of Disability Management and Accommodation.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

E1. Recent* and significant** experience working in the private or public sector in a unit that is related to disability case management, return-to-work planning and/or employee workplace accommodations;

E2. Recent* and significant** experience advising management and/or employees on the application of laws and/or policies related to return-to-work, disability management, and/or employee workplace accommodations;

E3. Experience managing complex cases*** related to disability management and/or return-to-work.

E4. Experience in collaborating with stakeholders (e.g. human resource advisors and occupational health personnel) to support the successful return to work of employees.

*Recent experience is defined as experience associated with having performed this function in the past 5 years.

**Significant experience is defined as experience associated with having performed a broad range of related activities which could normally be acquired over a period of approximately 2 years.

***Complex cases is defined as but not limited to, cases that require the consideration of internal and/or external influences such as legal obligations, internal policies and procedures, organizational culture. Cases that require critical thinking and the strategic action to achieve a successful outcome.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - The successful applicant will have to obtain, as a minimum, an Enhanced Reliability Status security clearance. The process requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of Criminal Activities, credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.

NOTE: Successful candidates will require a valid RCMP security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment. The process to obtain RCMP security clearance involves a security/reliability interview and a field investigation regarding matters of criminal activity which includes reference checks, verification of credit/financial status, education, employment, etc. As such, the process may take several weeks or months to complete. To be granted RCMP security clearance and to maintain the ethical standards of the RCMP, candidates must not be, or have been, involved in certain criminal activities*, have been dishonourably discharged, have pending personal bankruptcies, etc. For additional information and a complete list of activities, please visit and read the section titled “To apply as a police officer, you” (https://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/good-character) as well as the applicable considerations under “Evaluating your past actions”.
