Determines and processes individual cases of entitlement for Registration and Band Membership.
Monitors the Yukon Region’s First Nations who have assumed control of the Indian Registry and Band List Programs.
Administers estates as a legally appointed administrator , and/or appoints non-departmental administrators, consistent with the Minister’s national estates policy and provides advice on estate statutes and policies to First Nations and others involved.
Monitors and inputs data into the TLIMS - Trust & Lands Information Management System, including Indian Band, Estates and Trust accounts (minors, mentally incompetent and missing individual monies) audits the system, produces reports and requests payment from estates accounts to meet estates debts.
In depth knowledge of the Indian Act – is required when registering and transferring individuals, explaining requirements and sections of the Act; and when discussing band lists with First Nations, discussing entitlement and explaining to First Nations the registration requirements of the Act and in depth knowledge is required for estate administration.

The immediate intent of the process is to staff indeterminately one position at Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada, in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory.
The position is located in Whitehorse, YT. For operational reasons, the work must be performed on site at the Whitehorse Office, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (Yukon time). The successful candidate may be required to relocate to Whitehorse, YT.
A pool of candidates may be established to staff similar or identical positions with various tenures, linguistic profiles and/or security requirements at Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada within the Yukon region. ASSET EXPERIENCE
Experience in providing information, advice and assistance on registration eligibility to First Nations, government departments, agencies and members of the public on specific programs or services.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability and willingness to travel by car, boat, airplane, sometimes to remote locations under adverse road and weather conditions.

6. A variety of assessment tools may be used in the assessment of candidates, such as: * written test, practical test, situational exercise, * oral interview, simulation, presentation, role-play, work samples, performance appraisals and/or * reference checks. Some assessment tools may be administered electronically, others, in-person. (* Indicates those tools that will most likely be used in this process.)
7. Online assessments may be scheduled, and applicants will be invited to participate in these assessments via email. Applicants MUST make themselves available within the time span of the testing phase. The written/online exam MAY be administered outside of regular working hours including evenings and weekends.
8. If you are unavailable for the scheduled assessment session, you must inform us immediately. Applicants will only be rescheduled on a case-by-case basis. Supporting documentation may be required at the time of your request to be re-scheduled.

10. NOTE: The PSRS system will time out after 60 minutes which may result in your inability to save your work or loss of data. It is recommended that you draft all responses as well as your CV/résumé in another document on your PC that can be saved (e.g., in MS Word or WordPerfect) and copy/paste into the PSRS system when completed.
