Regional Senior Fisheries Management Officer CO-02
Positions in Indigenous Fisheries Management conduct the following types of duties:
• Plan and coordinate with internal and external partners and stakeholders; tasks could include chairing the meeting, taking minutes, preparing agendas, materials and equipment for the effective delivery of the meetings, and leading discussions.
• Address diverse requests from internal and external partners and clients including senior management, other government departments, the fishing industry, Indigenous groups, environmental organizations and the general public.
• Coordinate planned activities related to the management of Indigenous fisheries.
• Provide advice and recommendations to senior management on a variety of issues related to Indigenous Fisheries Programs, Indigenous fisheries management.
• Support the negotiation and implementation of Rights Recognition Agreements and other measures.
The intent of this advertised process is to establish a pool of qualified candidates to staff positions in Maritimes Region in Indigenous Fisheries Management. This pool may also be used to staff similar positions in the Maritimes Region for various tenures, various language requirements and various security requirements according to the position being staffed.

EDUCATION (Both positions)
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position or an acceptable combination of education, training and significant experience*.
* Significant experience is defined as experience associated with having performed a broad range of activities for a period of at least five (5) years.
Notes:
Indeterminate incumbents of positions in the CO group on June 21, 2021, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CO group.
At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, that is comparable to a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization relevant to the work to be performed, may serve as an alternative to meet the minimum education standard. Whenever the minimum education standard is met through this alternative, it is met only for the position being staffed, and candidates must be re-assessed for future appointments or deployments where the manager has decided to use this alternative.
EXPERIENCE (Both positions)
• Experience developing written materials in support of management such as reports, agreements, briefing notes, Memorandums of Understanding, etc.
• Experience using spreadsheet, word processing and email software, such as, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE (CO-01 only)
• Experience conducting research and analysis
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE (CO-02 only)
• Significant experience* conducting research and analysis of complex issues
* Significant experience is defined as experience associated with having performed a broad range of activities for a period of at least five (5) years.
• Experience developing and implementing programs, policies, or strategies in a complex operating environment
• Experience consulting or collaborating with Indigenous groups, stakeholders, or other levels of government

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Depending on the position being staffed, any of the following qualifications may also be deemed as an essential qualification and only candidates and persons with a priority entitlement who possess those qualifications will be considered for that specific vacancy.
ASSET EDUCATION
• Master's Degree or Post-Graduate Diploma in a field related to the position.
ASSET EXPERIENCE
• Experience working in support of the management of fisheries: commercial, Indigenous or recreational fisheries. (Does not include recreational fishing for personal use.)
• Experience developing public policy recommendations based on scientific evidence and socio-economic analyses.
• Experience in administration of a grants or contribution program.
• Experience managing or coordinating a program related to Indigenous services.
