Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff one 12 month term position with possibility of extension.

A pool of (fully or partially qualified) candidates may be established through this process to staff with identical or similar positions within Natural Resources Canada with various tenures, various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential, or Bilingual), linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (Reliability status or Secret clearance), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
Graduation with a technical diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in natural science, such as Forestry, or an acceptable combination of education, training, or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
• Experience conducting compliance inspections and supervising harvest operations.
• Experience conducting audits, inspection, or supervising renewal and maintenance operations.
• Experience laying out silvicultural treatment boundaries.
• Experience in use of GIS and creating maps.

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of Great Lake St. Lawrence Forest region silvicultural systems.
• Knowledge of provincial field assessment standards.
• Knowledge of protected forest values and standards around protecting forest values.

Abilities:
• Ability to complete field assessment and data collection for prescription development for harvest allocations.
• Ability to conduct surveys for stand monitoring.
• Ability to report and document effectively.
• Ability to resolve problems with supervisor and/ or clients.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally.

Asset Qualifications:
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in forestry or some other science relevant to the position.
• Tree marking certification (Level 1 Compliance).
• Experience developing and implementing prescriptions.
• Experience completing post harvest assessments.
