Intent of the process

A pool of qualified candidates inclusive of Public Service (PS) employees and Civilian Members (CM); may be established through this process to staff identical or similar CR-04/CK-04 positions on a temporary or permanent full-time basis.

Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

EDUCATION:

A secondary School Diploma or employer-approved alternative*

*The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.**

* Acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience must consist of at least 2 of the following:

Education: successful completion of two years of secondary school and/or
Training: successful completion of acceptable level of training courses and/or
Experience: a minimum of 2 years work experience

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

Experience in reviewing, analyzing and/or extracting information from documents.

Recent* experience using various computer software including email, spreadsheets and word processing.

Recent* experience is defined as experience acquired within the last two (2) years.

🚩 OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Willingness and ability to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and graphic material.

Possession of a valid driver’s licence or mobility to the degree normally associated with the possession of a valid driver’s licence.

Ability and willingness to travel.

Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice based on operational requirements.

Conditions of employment

Top Secret security clearance - The successful applicant will have to obtain, as a minimum, an RCMP Top Secret Security Clearance. The process requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of Criminal Activities, credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.

NOTE: Successful candidates will require a valid RCMP security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment. The process to obtain RCMP security clearance involves a security/reliability interview and a field investigation regarding matters of criminal activity which includes reference checks, verification of credit/financial status, education, employment, etc. As such, the process may take several weeks or months to complete. To be granted RCMP security clearance and to maintain the ethical standards of the RCMP, candidates must not be, or have been, involved in certain criminal activities*, have been dishonourably discharged, have pending personal bankruptcies, etc. For additional information and a complete list of activities, please visit and read the section titled “To apply as a police officer, you” (https://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/good-character) as well as the applicable considerations under “Evaluating your past actions”. The security requirements are the same for all employees of the RCMP.

Tests

Cognitive Ability - Level 1

Applicants must complete the Unsupervised Internet Test of Cognitive Ability - Level 1 as part of the screening for this selection process. This test assesses general problem solving and reasoning ability. You will have 60 minutes to complete the test. You must complete the test before you submit your application for this position.
