Duties

Have a passion for the environment? Join our Environmental Services and Contaminated Sites Management team. We provide contracting, technical advice and project/program management for environmental related projects/programs for Public Services and Procurement Canada as well as many other federal government departments and agencies. Our work is varied and aimed at restoring the environment, and supporting the greening of government operations. This work allows us to work in partnership with a broad range of partners both inside government as well as outside including with Indigenous communities.

Intent of the process

Positions to be filled: 2 (1 for Ontario Region in Toronto (Ontario) and 1 for Pacific Region in Vancouver (British Columbia) or Victoria (British Columbia) or Whitehorse (Yukon).

On an anticipatory basis, for the following locations for Atlantic Region: Moncton (New Brunswick), Saint John (New Brunswick), St. John's (Newfoundland and Labrador), Corner Brook (Newfoundland and Labrador), Halifax (Nova Scotia), Sydney (Nova Scotia), or Charlottetown (Prince Edward Island)

The intent of this process is to establish a pool of qualified candidates that may be used to staff identical or similar positions within Public Services and Procurement Canada with various linguistic profiles, various security profiles, various tenure or various locations across Canada.

More details on the office locations for the positions to be staffed immediately follows:

1. Ontario Region: 4900 Yonge St, Toronto (1 position)
2. Pacific Region: 800 Burrard St, Vancouver or 1230 Government St, Victoria or 419 Range Road, Whitehorse (1 position).

Should the selected candidate already be a public servant, the pool could also be used for acting appointments.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or another field relevant to the position such as environmental sciences, environmental studies, environmental engineering, earth sciences, biology, or ecology.

EXPERIENCE

EX1. Significant** experience in providing strategic advice to senior management*** on environmental issues related to projects, programs or services.
EX2. Recent* and significant** experience in the management of human and financial resources.
EX3. Recent* and significant** experience in managing environmental programs or services or projects.
EX4. Recent* and significant** experience developing and maintaining effective relationships with a wide range of partners from various sectors, other departments and/or levels of government, Indigenous communities/organizations and private sector related to environmental programs and/or services.

*Recent is defined as experience acquired in the last five (5) years.
**Significant is defined in terms of both depth and breadth of experience that is normally acquired by performing the tasks over a period of approximately three (3) years. Candidates must clearly demonstrate their roles and responsibilities pertaining to this experience.
*** Senior Management is defined as Regional Director (EX-01) level or above or Chief Executive Officer (C Suite) or equivalent in another context such as a private sector company or Special Operating Agency.
