POSITION LOCATION / WORK ARRANGEMENT:
This position is located in Toronto. However, the successful candidate may report to the Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa or Vancouver office for in-office work.

Due to the nature of the work and operational requirements, this position requires physical presence (in-office work) from one of the following OSFI offices across Canada (Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa or Vancouver). The option of teleworking is available on a part-time basis in accordance with OSFI’s Guidelines on Telework. Teleworking arrangements are determined on a case-by-case basis depending on the nature of the work required by the position, the operational and business needs, as well as the candidate’s work preferences.

Duties

The Principal Analyst will play an important role within the Risk Analytics & Innovation Network team. The Risk Analytics & Innovation Network team’s mandate is to promote the use of analytical tools and data to modernize and enrich the division’s risk assessment and risk surveillance capabilities. Some key responsibilities of this role will include but not limit to:
• Leveraging advanced technology, programing languages and other tools to develop quantitative analysis and user-friendly applications/tools.
• Liaising with Technology and Risk & Data Analytics teams to provide value-added data research and deliver advanced analytics solutions.
• Identifying, designing and implementing process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery and re-designing processes and infrastructure for greater efficiency/scalability.
• Exploring use of machine learning and artificial intelligence tools to support risk scanning and/or risk surveillance activities.
• Developing and maintaining sounds relationships with stakeholders by leading and/or supporting activities and project management.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
• A degree or a diploma from a post-secondary institution specializing in a quantitative discipline such as data science, computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics or another relevant field OR an acceptable combination of education, experience and/or training.

Degree equivalency

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
• Recent and significant experience with one or more of the following: programming, modelling, Power BI/DAX, machine learning, and data visualization
• Recent experience in analyzing big data in a data lake/data warehouse environment
• Recent experience in the financial services industry*
• Recent experience in project management
