The Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor) is seeking a communications advisor for its Whitehorse office.
In this position, you would be part of a team across three time zones and four locations with offices in Iqaluit, Yellowknife, Whitehorse and Ottawa. The communications team develops and rolls out communications on multiple platforms to promote an understanding of the Agency’s mandate, services and policies. Reporting directly to the Manager of Communications, your role as an advisor would be to provide communications support for the Agency, with a focus on the Yukon.
The position in Whitehorse, Yukon qualifies for northern allowances for you and your family.

Immediate intent: The intent of this process is to fill one (1) full-time permanent (indeterminate) position in Whitehorse, Yukon.
A pool of candidates may also be established and may be used to fill similar positions, with varying tenures, in any of CanNor’s offices.
In the event that an employee of the public service is qualified through this process, they may be considered for acting, deployment, assignment or secondment opportunities.

Your résumé.
A degree from a recognized university or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
E1: Experience providing communications advice to internal and external clients*.
E2: Experience providing support for special events, such as public events, ministerial or dignitary visits and events, media tours and conferences, or engagement sessions.
E3: Experience in writing and editing a variety of communications materials such as fact sheets, success stories, speeches, news releases, social media, media lines, questions and answers, presentations, or web content.
*External clients consist of parties outside your federal department/region or organization.
Asset experience:
AE1: Experience working in a northern, cross-cultural environment, preferably in Nunavut, the Northwest Territories, the Yukon or Inuit Nunangat.
AE2: Experience working on communications files related to Indigenous and Northern affairs or economic development
