A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions with various linguistic profiles and/or requirements as well as tenures (Acting, Assignment, Deployment, Secondment, Determinate, and Indeterminate appointments) and/or the security clearance (reliability or secret), which may vary according to the position being staffed.

EDUCATION:
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in education, linguistics, sociology, psychology, mathematics, physics, home economics or some other specialty relevant to the positions in the classification.
Note:
When education is required, candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
• Possession of an acceptable teaching certificate from a province or territory in Canada.
EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in education administration related to an educational institution
• Experience in developing curriculum
• 5 years classroom teaching experience in elementary or secondary education
NOTE:
Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet the essential and asset education and experience factors listed by answering the screening questions. Candidates should write concrete examples demonstrating how they meet the experience and education required.
When answering screening questions, candidates should:
• Choose examples that illustrate a high degree of complexity and difficulty and have sufficient impact to allow you to illustrate the extent and depth of your experience.
• Include the date or period when the situation occurred, the context, your role and the outcome.
• Separate your role from that of others, if you have talked about an experience within a team
The screening board cannot make any assumptions about your experience and will not contact candidates for additional or potentially missing information.

EDUCATION:
• Completion of a Bachelor of Education Program from a recognized post-secondary institution.
• Master's degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
EXPERIENCE:
• Experience working with Indigenous people or organizations.
• Experience working with Chief and Council of a First Nation or School Committees OR other agencies (i.e. RCMP, Victim Services, Health Services, Provincial School Boards, etc.).
• Recent* and significant** experience in the supervision of instructional staff as a Principal, Vice Principal or Teacher in charge (i.e. Lead Teacher).
*Recent experience is defined as experience within the last 5 years.
**Significant experience is defined as experience within the last 5 years where 2 of those years included supervision of instructional staff as a Principal, Vice Principal or Teacher in charge. (i.e. Lead Teacher).
ABILITIES:
• Ability to communicate in Denesųłįné in an immersion setting or as a second language.

• Must be certified and in good standing status with Alberta Education, in possession of a valid Alberta teaching certificate with Permanent Professional Certification (PPC) at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout the duration of employment.

• LEAVE/ABSENCES DURING THIS SELECTION PROCESS:

1) Medical reasons with doctor’s certificate

4) Religious reasons or 5) Participation in an assessment for another selection process.
Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
