The Communications Officer is responsible for:
• revising a wide variety of material, including decisions, for accuracy, terminology and quality of language;
• translating texts and revising translated texts, including decisions, ensuring consistency between the original and translated documents and ensuring that proper terminology is used;
• providing linguistic expertise and advice to clients, including through the preparation of client-facing products such as presentations;
• performing research to contribute to the development of an inventory of standard terminology and phrases and of quality assurance standards; and
• supporting and promoting the use of modern communications tools and practices.

Stream 1: This process is to staff one (1) indeterminate position.
A partially assessed pool will be created and may be used to staff similar positions at an identical or equivalent group and level with various bilingual position requirements (CCB/CCB, CCB/PPB, PPB/CCB, CCC/CCC), tenures, locations or security level within the Administrative Tribunals Support Service of Canada (ATSSC). Additional tests may be required for bilingual PPB/CCB and CCB/PPB positions. If you do not obtain a passing mark of P, you will not be eliminated from the pool. All other federal organizations listed in Schedules I, IV and V of the Financial Administration Act (FAA) may use this selection process to appoint a candidate to a similar position within their organization. Stream 2 (Anticipatory):
We will proceed with the evaluations of stream 2, once the stream 1 pool is established.
This process will be used to eventually establish a pool of qualified candidates which could be used to staff similar positions with various bilingual linguistic profiles (CCB/CCB, CCB/PPB, PPB/CCB, CCC/CCC), various tenures and various security requirements within the Administrative Tribunals Support Service of Canada (ATSSC). Additional tests may be required for bilingual PPB/CCB and CCB/PPB positions. If you do not obtain a passing mark of P, you will not be eliminated from the pool. * IMPORTANT: Please note that the second language skills ''Reading comprehension'' and ''Written expression'' will be assessed before the creation of the pool. Obtaining a level C in these two skills will be required to be qualified in the pool.

Education:
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience:
Stream 1:
Experience in providing linguistic advice in English.
Experience in revising and proofreading material in English, particularly syntax, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Experience in verifying the accuracy and concordance of translated documents towards English.
Stream 2:
Experience in providing linguistic advice in French.
Experience in revising and proofreading material in French, particularly syntax, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Experience in verifying the accuracy and concordance of translated documents towards French.
Education:
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in translation, linguistics or editing.
Experience:
Experience in revising and proofreading documents in a judicial or quasi-judicial or labor relations environment.
Experience or training in plain language writing.
Experience in using translation computer tools such as LogiTerm, Multitrans or Trados.
