Important messages

We are committed to providing an inclusive and barrier-free work environment, starting with the hiring process. If you need to be accommodated during any phase of the evaluation process, please use the Contact information below to request specialized accommodation. All information received in relation to accommodation will be kept confidential.

Assessment accommodation

Applications will be accepted online only. Please apply online at www.canada.ca/government-jobs. If you have a disability that prevents you from applying on-line please contact the hiring manager as identified on this poster.

Communication for this process will be sent via email. It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure accurate contact information is provided and updated as required. Candidates who apply to this selection process should include an email address that accepts email from unknown users (some email systems block these types of email). Candidates are strongly encouraged to check their email on a regular basis.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE-Screening Questions: We cannot make any assumptions about your experience. Simply saying you have the required qualifications or listing your current duties is not enough. You must provide clear examples to substantiate your experience by demonstrating HOW, WHEN and WHERE the qualification was met. The depth and breadth of experience of an applicant
may be considered as part of screening or selection of a candidate, which is why it is recommended you quantify your experience. Failure to provide the above information in the format required may result in your application being rejected from the process. Information provided in the screening questions should be supported by your résumé.

Provide concrete examples related to the experience:
•Choose examples that illustrate a high degree of complexity and difficulty and have sufficient impact to allow you to illustrate the extent and depth of your experience.
•Examples should include the date or period when the situation occurred, the context, your role and the outcome.
•If you have talked about an experience within a team, separate your role from that of others.

You will be required to demonstrate how you meet the education and experience criteria (essential and asset) for the initial screening, in answering online screening questions. We cannot make any assumptions about your experience. Simply saying you have the required qualifications or listing your current duties is not enough. The depth and breadth of experience of an applicant may be considered as part of screening or selection of a candidate, which is why it is recommended you quantify your experience. The screening questions are the primary source of information the screening board may use and your resume may only be used as a secondary source to verify information.

Duties

Depending on the hiring unit, position responsibilities may include: general administrative duties (e.g. processing incoming and outgoing mail, taking minutes, ordering supplies); maintaining various electronic databases and systems; providing financial management support (e.g. processing invoices, generating and reconciling financial reports); managing and maintaining electronic and hard copy administrative files; providing information and assistance to internal and/or external stakeholders; completing work orders; assisting with inventory control.

Work environment

In support of RCMP Operations spanning Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Northwest Territories and Nunavut, including Depot (the national cadet training facility), the RCMP’s Northwest Corporate Management Branch (NW-CMB) is accountable for the corporate functions of: Procurement and Contracting, Materiel Management, Real Property, Fleet Management, Finance, Business Systems, and Organizational Business Integration. To successfully perform these functions, NW-CMB employees are required to actively engage with a diverse range of external and internal clients to understand and be responsive to their needs and take ownership of their roles and responsibilities. The work environment is demanding, often changing and unpredictable, therefore, NW-CMB employees are required to be flexible, innovative, progressive and positive agents of change in order to achieve superior RCMP results and value for Canadians.

Intent of the process

An essentially qualified pool will be established from this process. Depending on the position(s) being staffed, additional asset qualifications, organizational needs, operational requirements or conditions of employment may be required and candidates in the essentially qualified pool may be assessed and required to meet these additional qualifications in order to be appointed.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.
