The successful candidate will have the opportunity to conduct research in the fields of remote sensing image processing, big-data processing, and spatial analysis. The focus of this research concerns generation, validation, improvement and assimilation of multi-year land cover information derived from diverse satellite image data, in order to provide long-term consistent urban growth map information for studies on the impacts of urbanization on disaster risk intensity/distribution, local climate changes, energy consumption and other urban issues.
The successful student will have the opportunity to interact with CCMEO staff, researchers and technicians. The day-to-day work will take place at University of Toronto (Mississauga campus).
The successful candidate should have a good work ethic, a strong sense of responsibilities, and the ability to work in team environments.

•You are enrolled in an academic program that requires research as part of your curriculum

Education:
Currently enrolled or eligible to enroll in Master’s or PhD program in Geography, University of Toronto.
Experience:
• Experience in analyzing and understanding geospatial data.
• Experience in computer program development.
• Experience in satellite image processing.
• Experience in conducting literature reviews and summarizing information.
• Experience in writing research reports and making scientific presentations.
