Duties

Provides leadership for the development, integration, implementation and maintenance of the departmental/agency IT infrastructure operations; installs, integrates, configures, monitors and tests components in the computing environment.

Intent of the process

The intention of this process is to create a pool of candidates to staff IT-04 positions with varying tenures (such as indeterminate, specified period, acting or casual) and Bilingual Imperative linguistic profiles (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC or higher).

EDUCATION
Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum post-secondary education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met via this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCES
EXP1: Recent* experience of a minimum of three (3) years managing IM/IT functional teams of a minimum of five (5) persons, in one or more of the following disciplines: application development (including commercial products, open source and the development of cloud-based solutions), infrastructure and operational system support, IT security, enterprise architecture, enterprise data management or quality assurance.

EXP2: Recent* experience managing the activities of teams, including delegating work, monitoring progress and managing employee performance over two (2) complete performance cycles from goal setting to PMAs.

EXP3: Recent* and significant** experience in writing and/or presenting IT materials for a senior audience (director or above)

EXP4: Recent* and significant** experience contributing to cost estimates or resource requirements.

*Recent experience is defined as experience that was acquired within the last five (5) years.

** Significant is defined to mean the depth and breadth of experience associated with having performed a broad range of duties for a period of approximately three (3) years.
