The selected candidate will be hired through this program.

Duties

Visiting Scholar Fellowship in Support of the Arbitrary Detention in State-to-State Relations Initiative (ADI).

Duration: From June 2023 to December 2024

The Visiting Scholar should be willing to start around June 1, 2023. It is expected that the Visiting Scholar work a maximum of 25 hours per week (for part-time candidate) or 37.5 hours per week (for full-time candidate) and should be able to commit for a maximum period of eighteen (18) months.

In addition to conducting evidentiary and legal research, the Visiting Scholar will have the following duties:

• Coordinating with and supporting the Arbitrary Detention in State-to-State Relations Initiative team in their research activities, colloquia, and meetings, and writing of reports;
• Coordinating with student researchers at the Munk School of Global Affairs and the University of Toronto Law School, and ensuring that their activities advance the work of the team;
• Liaising with members of the team on the substance, program, and format roundtables and symposia on ADI;
• Serving as rapporteur for the team in their in-person and virtual meetings and in the roundtables, including preparing meeting minutes and reports, directing any follow-up, and coordinating with the ADI division within Global Affairs Canada on matters relating to participation, travel, and logistics.

EDUCATION:
EDU: The candidate must be enrolled in a doctoral or post doctoral program as a full-time student in a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in International Law or a related program.

*The candidate must be recognized as having full-time student status by the academic institution in which they are presently enrolled and maintain this status during the whole fellowship period.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
E1: Experience in project coordination and implementation.
