Our Vision: A transportation system in Canada that is recognized worldwide as safe, secure, efficient and environmentally responsible.
Transport Canada is a transportation sector that operates with the highest level of delegation and has the flexibility to meet safety requirements. In order to achieve the goals of the Civil Aviation program and to focus on these strategic objectives, Transport Canada Civil Aviation defines safety as a situation where risks are managed to acceptable levels, which is reflected in our mission statement.
Our Mission: To establish and administer policies and regulations for the safest civil aviation system for Canada and Canadians, based on a systems approach to risk management and enforcement.
Inspectors must be good communicators, able to work effectively with others and adapt to the diverse needs of all stakeholders. They may be required to take urgent and decisive action and be able to negotiate, facilitate behavioural change and develop new skills in customer-focused areas. Inspectors have an obligation to perform their duties in accordance with their departmental delegation. Inspectors work under pressure because of the impact that could create an actual or potential conflict and ensure that regulations are followed. They are accountable for decisions that directly impact the safety of Canadians.
The intent of this selection process is to create a pool of qualified and/or partially qualified candidates that could be used to staff similar positions in Transport Canada where the tenure, language requirements and security requirements may vary.
