Intent of the process

The intent is to staff two positions on an indeterminate basis at Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) with various language requirements within the National Capital Region (NCR). A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may also be established to staff similar or identical positions at Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) and Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) with various linguistic requirements or profiles* as well as tenures (term or indeterminate) and/or security clearance (reliability or secret), which may vary according to the position being staffed.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, geological engineering, naval architecture or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

NOTE:
Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE ENG-03/04 : Recent* and significant** experience in at least one of the following:
• Program or project management
• Engineering planning and design
• Construction and implementation of infrastructure projects

In one or more of the following areas:
• Water treatment, water supply and water distribution systems
• Wastewater collection and treatment systems

ENG-03
*Recent experience is defined as experience within the last five (5) years

**Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience with full time performance of these duties for approximately two (2) years.

ENG-04
*Recent experience is defined as experience within the last seven (7) years

**Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience with full time performance of these duties for approximately four (4) years.

EXPERIENCE ENG-03/04:
Experience in providing technical and strategic advice to senior management (director or above)

EXPERIENCE ENG-03:
Significant* experience in the preparation, review or technical evaluation of architectural or engineering reports.

EXPERIENCE ENG-04:
Recent* and significant** experience in the review or technical evaluation of architectural or engineering reports.

KNOWLEDGE ENG-03/04:
- Knowledge of Government of Canada’s priorities addressing Indigenous and Northern matters.

EDUCATION ENG-04:
Additional education or certification related to engineering or project management

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
Current certification as a Professional Engineer in Canada

Degree equivalency

Experience in consulting engineering or in the construction sector

EXPERIENCE ENG-03/04:
Experience in conducting fieldwork, site inspections or on-site construction

EXPERIENCE ENG-03/04:
Experience in working with various levels of government and/or multiple stakeholders and/or First Nations communities

EXPERIENCE ENG-04:
Experience in operating or designing municipal-type infrastructure in or for First Nations communities.
