Amongst other duties, this position involves a very diversified combination of flying, simulator training and ground school duties.

Intent of the process

The results of this process will initially be used to staff one English essential position in Ottawa, ON and one English essential position in Moncton, NB indeterminately at Transport Canada.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff identical or similar positions with various tenures and various linguistic profiles within Transport Canada across Canada.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

✈ ESSENTIAL EDUCATION:
ED1: A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

✈ ESSENTIAL OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:
OC1: Possession of a valid Canadian Airline Transport Pilot Licence – Aeroplane Category, with a valid Group 1 instrument rating.
OC2: Possession of a valid Restricted Radio Telephone Operators certificate (endorsed Aeronautical).

✈ ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCES:
EX1: Minimum of 3000 hours flying experience.
EX2: Minimum of 1500 hours as pilot-in-command of multiengine airplanes.
EX3: Minimum of 300 hours instrument flight time (150 hours must be actual).
EX4: Experience as a training pilot or flight instructor.

✈ ASSET EXPERIENCES:
AEX1: Instructor experience in Level C or Level D flight simulators.
AEX2: Experience as an approved check pilot (ACP), a designated pilot examiner (PE) or Military equivalent whose duties include the evaluation of pilot competencies.
AEX3: Experience as a pilot in command of a C550 aircraft.
AEX4: Experience as a pilot in command of a C90 aircraft.
AEX5: Experience on multi-crew aircraft.

✈ ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE:
K1: Knowledge of aircraft systems, performance and limitations.
K2: Knowledge of Transport Canada Approved Check Pilot Manual (TP 6533) and Pilot Proficiency Check and Aircraft Type Rating Flight Test Guide - Aeroplanes (TP14727).
K3: Knowledge of the Canadian Aviation Regulations governing the operation of Commercial Fixed Wing Aircraft under subparts 703 and 704.

A1: Ability to prepare effective lesson plans, use visual aids, and deliver clear instruction to groups or individuals.
A2: Ability to communicate effectively orally.

• Willing and able to work irregular hours which include evening and night operations.
• Willing and able to travel and work overtime as tasked.
• Willing and able to work in an aviation environment (i.e., noise, fumes, and hazards).
• Successful completion of requirements associated with the issuance of a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) in order to obtain and maintain it.
• Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Possess and maintain a valid Canadian passport.
