ISED is transitioning to a hybrid work environment to leverage the best of both in-person and virtual work to deliver results. To foster a dynamic environment for purposeful in-person connections, most employees will be working part time at their designated ISED worksite on a weekly basis, and the remainder of the time from their telework location.

This job has been identified as ‘hybrid’. Generally, employees in a hybrid job can anticipate working from their designated ISED location from two to three days per week.

Intent of the process

The intent of this selection process is to staff three (3) positions on an indeterminate basis. A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff similar positions with various tenures (indeterminate, term, deployment, interchange, acting, secondment or assignment) within the National Capital Region.

Note that we are currently working in a hybrid environment with two or three days a week in our downtown Ottawa office. Candidates selected for positions will be required to report to our Ottawa office at a minimum of two days a week.

EDUCATION:
- Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position (e.g., commerce, marketing, business administration, economics, public administration, or another field related to the position).

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCES:
- Significant experience* leading business or economic development projects and/or programs.
- Significant experience* in working with for profit and/or not-for profit clients in an environment driven by client service and results.
- Significant experience* in preparing and delivering complex** advice for senior management orally and in writing.
- Experience in managing human resources, including supervising a team of direct reports, assigning and managing work, and assessing and managing performance.

* Significant experience is defined by the depth and breadth of experience normally acquired over a period of two (2) years.
** Complex is defined as involving multiple stakeholders and dealing with multi-faceted issues.

EDUCATION (asset):
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Finance, Public Administration, Accounting, Chartered Professional Accountant designation, Chartered Financial Analyst designation, or other post-graduate degree related to the requirements of the position.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE (assets):
- Experience in delivering and / or managing a grants and contributions program ***.
- Experience in managing financial resources including budget forecasts, monitoring expenditures, and financial reporting.
- Experience in providing intelligence, competitive analysis, or specialized advice on investment market development to senior management.
- Experience developing and negotiating partnership agreements with clients and/or stakeholders to deliver economic or business development programs or initiatives.

*** Includes preparing applications to access government funding, setting performance objectives and monitoring plans, monitoring progress of work and reporting of results, and financial accounting and reporting as described in agreements.
