The job involves both desk work and travel for services delivery to Indigenous communities in the Atlantic region.
The successful candidate will be required to work in a hybrid work mode at one of our worksite in the Atlantic region: Moncton (New Brunswick), Amherst (Nova Scotia) and Halifax (Nova Scotia). A part-time telework agreement may be discussed and implemented at the time of hiring in accordance with the operational needs of the position to be filled.
Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) has a unique mandate playing a role in supporting services and programs in communities such as health, education, economic development, housing, community infrastructure and social support. In the context of reconciliation, ISC supports Indigenous peoples (First Nations, Inuit and Métis) in their efforts to improve health, social well-being and economic prosperity to the benefit of all Canadians.

You will build and support strong working relationships with First Nations and Inuit communities, families, and individuals, with a focus on improving health outcomes and reducing health risks.
The immediate intent of this selection process is to staff one indeterminate position. This process will be used to create a pool of fully or partially candidates to staff similar or identical position at Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) and other departments with various tenure, location, linguistic profiles, conditions of employment and security requirements

EDUCATION
- Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable* specialization in nutrition, dietetics or home economics.
* The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Registered Dietitian in a province or territory of Canada.
EXPERIENCE
- Experience providing nutrition services in a community based setting.
- Experience in providing nutrition education to clients both one on one and in a group setting.
- Experience working in interdisciplinary team on public health nutrition issues or initiatives.
- Experience implementing principles of adult education.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
- Certified Diabetes Educator (Canada).
EXPERIENCE
- Experience working with First Nations or Inuit.
- Experience developing resource materials to support public health programs and services.
- Experience building the capacity of individuals and teams to deliver public health programs and services.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
In order to work in each of the Atlantic provinces the Community Nutrition Advisor will need to be have valid, unrestricted, licenses/registrations as a Registered Dietitian in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador.
Reliability Status security clearance
- A valid, unrestricted, license/registration as a Registered Dietitian in the province of employment.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license or personal mobility to a degree normally associated with the possession of a driver’s license.
- Willing and able to travel: this could include travel to remote locations by small aircraft or boat.
- Willing and able to work overtime.

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
