A qualified candidate may be offered the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications. Reporting to the Manager, Time Cost and Risk Management Services, the Quantity Surveyor will be responsible to work with a team of professionals, including the Project Managers, to assist them with their project estimating tasks for various real property projects. Projects could be ranging in size from Minor Capital to Major Crown Projects. A Senior Quantity Surveyor will be there to assist the new employee to learn Global Affairs Canada (GAC) procedures.
Immediate need: 1 position to be staffed on a determinate basis with an English Essential linguistic profile. This process may be used to create a pool of qualified candidates as well as to fill identical or similar positions at the Department of Global Affairs Canada.

Education:
Graduation with a degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in Quantity Surveying or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Occupational Certification:
Registered with the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS) and holding the certification of Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) or Construction Estimator Certified (CEC).
Experience:
Providing cost planning (including the elaboration of indicative to substantive cost estimate) and cost control for a minimum of two (2) real property construction projects.
Providing cost planning advice to project teams (including project risk assessment) in delivery of real property construction projects to at least two (2) projects.
Minimum of five (5) years of cost planning and estimating experience in real property construction projects
Asset - Education:
Be a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
Hold the Gold Seal in Estimating (GSC) by the Canadian Construction Association
Asset - Experience:
Experience in the development of construction projects outside Canada.
