Work environment

Working within a dynamic environment alongside Human Resources (HR) professionals, the HR Advisor is responsible for providing advice and guidance to various client managers on Staffing. Working closely with clients, the HR Advisor will collaborate in developing the merit criteria, assessment tools, and provide strategic staffing advice.

Successful candidates will need be organized, demonstrate flexibility, have excellent negotiation skills, be detail oriented, possess the ability to work effectively with both clients and colleagues and be able to work under pressure. The client group extends across Alberta and the North West Territories and is comprised of both Regular Members and Public Servants.

The current positions are located in Edmonton and Calgary and require some in-office attendance. 

Intent of the process

This process will initially be used to staff two permanent positions in the staffing unit, and create a pool of qualified candidates. The pool of qualified candidates may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures (i.e. permanent or temporary) within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Edmonton, Alberta or Calgary, Alberta.

The pool could be used to offer acting appointments, assignments, secondments or deployments.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in human resources management, labour or industrial relations, psychology, public or business administration, organizational development, education sciences, social sciences, sociology or any other field relevant to the work to be performed.

Degree equivalency

Experience in providing strategic advice and guidance to management on staffing in the Federal Public Service.

Conditions of employment

RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status security clearance.

NOTE: Successful candidates will require a valid RCMP security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment. The process to obtain RCMP security clearance involves a security/reliability interview and a field investigation regarding matters of criminal activity which includes reference checks, verification of credit/financial status, education, employment, etc . As such, the process may take several weeks or months to complete.
