We currently have various needs for positions at the EC-04 and EC-05 level. Partially or fully qualified pools can be created to staff positions that are currently vacant and other future needs at GAC in the National Capital Region. The essential qualifications, the duration of employment and the linguistic profiles may vary depending on the position to be staffed.

EDUCATION
FOR ALL STREAMS:
ED1 - Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.
Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE
FOR ALL STREAMS:
EX1– Experience* in researching and analysing international policy issues or experience in researching, synthesizing and analyzing information in order to draw conclusions and provide recommendations.
EX2– Experience* in developing or contributing to briefing materials such as reports, presentations, trends and statistics reports.
EX3– Experience* working collaboratively in a group or in a team setting.
*Experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience generally acquired through the performance of duties for a minimum period of one year for EC-04 positions and three years for EC-05 positions.
FOR EC-05 (STREAMS 3 AND 4) ONLY:
EX4 – A minimum of one year experience in building and maintaining partnerships with internal or external stakeholders.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
AED1– Master’s degree in business, economics, sociology, commerce, international relations, political science, business administrations, law or related field.
EXPERIENCE
AEX1– Experience in building and maintaining partnerships with internal or external stakeholders.
AEX2– Experience in the management of international development projects or analysis of international development project proposals or experience in international trade or in foreign policy analysis.
AEX3– Experience in the development or review or the interpretation of government of Canada policies and directives.
AEX4– Experience in supporting negotiations.
AEX5– Experience researching issues related to the Indo-Pacific region.
AEX6– Significant**experience living and working in a developing country, middle-Income country or fragile/crisis-affected country.
AEX7– Experience in the use of data and visualization in presentations, dashboards or placemats, for storytelling and supporting decision-making.
AEX8– Experience using statistical software packages or programming languages (e.g., SAS, R, Python, Power BI, Excel, etc.) to analyze, interpret and visualize data.
AEX9 – Experience providing coaching or supervision of junior staff.
AEX10 – Experience participating in and contributing at multi-stakeholder forums (such as pan-departmental committees, working groups, etc.).
AEX11 – Significant** experience living and working in the Indo-Pacific region.
**Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of the duties for a period of at least 6 months.
AEX12 – Foreign language abilities at the working level* relevant to the position may be considered an asset. These include Mandarin, Korean, Japanese, Cantonese, Hindi, Dari, Pashtu, Malay, Indonesian, Urdu and Vietnamese.
*Candidates indicating a working ability in these languages may be tested by the Department as part of the hiring process.
AEX13 – Experience managing large data sets (i.e. validation, cleaning, cataloguing and data visualization).
AEX14 – Experience in collecting, organizing, analysing, interpreting, and presenting data.
AEX15 – Experience in analysing, interpreting, and presenting data related to the well-being of an organization and its people.
