The Department of Finance Canada has transitioned to a hybrid workplace requiring employees to work some of the time in the office (aim is for on-site work 50% of the time). This hybrid work arrangement will maintain the flexibility and productivity gained through remote work, while maintaining our culture and making the most of the benefits of working together in the office.
In addition, FIN’s new flagship facility is located at 90 Elgin Street, in the heart of downtown Ottawa. The building is equipped with state-of-the art technologies to support collaboration and innovation. The area is served by all major bus routes and a light rail station, and employees have access in the building to amenities such as a library and showers, change rooms and secure bicycle storage, allowing them to commute using the National Capital Region’s bike path system.
The intention of this selection process is to fill an indeterminate position. A partially assessed pool may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions within the Department of Finance Canada.

EDUCATION:
• Graduation with a diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in psychology, law enforcement, criminology, security management, military studies, or in a field related to the position.
EXPERIENCE:
• *Significant experience in one or more of the following the fields:
o National security (e.g., intelligence and threat assessments, political security, etc.)
o Organizational security (e.g., corporate security, physical security, administrative investigations, emergency and business continuity management; security incident management)
o Emergency management (e.g. emergency planning, emergency management policy, emergency operations).
• *Significant experience conducting subject interviews (e.g. security interviews, screening interviews, investigative interviews, law enforcement interviews).
• *Significant experience establishing and maintaining partnerships with at least two of the following: domestic or international law enforcement or intelligence agencies; government agency/departments; academic communities; non-profit organizations, private sector.
• *Significant experience in dealing with complex** organizational security, law enforcement, or intelligence issues and providing advice or recommendations to clients or management (Director level or above).
• Experience in managing human resources.
*Significant experience is defined as depth, and breadth normally associated with having performed a broad range of various related activities, which are normally acquired over a period of at least four (4) years within the last six (6) years.
**Complex is defined as considering diverse points of view or the sensitivity of the topic.
ASSET EDUCATION:
• Graduation with a degree (Baccalaureate) from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in psychology, law enforcement, criminology, security management, military studies, or in a field related to the position.
ASSET EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in managing human resources for at least one full year of employee performance review.

• Knowledge of briefing techniques and practices to brief security senior management.
