Employees appointed to BI-02 positions within this organization are responsible for implementing and delivering biological science, monitoring, management and stewardship projects and programs for the conservation of fauna, flora, or their habitat. They must also provide advice on the approaches and methods used to conduct various biological studies or analyses, to oversee the issuance of scientific permits, to develop conservation strategies or to conduct other related scientific activities.
The positions to be filled concern migratory bird monitoring and conservation, species at risk protection and recovery, and marine protected areas planning.

At the CWS, you will have the opportunity to work on conservation initiatives to protect migratory birds, species at risk, biodiversity, and their habitats. You will interact and work in partnership with provinces, territories, first nations, non-governmental organizations, and the public in general.
A pool of qualified candidates may be created and used to fill similar positions of different tenures, conditions of employment, language requirements, and security requirements within the Quebec Regional Division of the Canadian Wildlife Service of Environment and Climate Change Canada.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a natural, physical or applied science with specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position such as in biology, ecology, natural resource management, or wildlife and habitats conservation.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience in conducting or participating in migratory bird projects. This experience must include the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data on migratory birds.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
AE1: Graduation with a master’s or doctoral degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in natural science, physical sciences, or applied sciences with a specialization relevant to the duties of the position.
EXPERIENCE:
AEx1: Experience in using motorized vehicles to survey migratory birds (ATVs, boats, planes, helicopters);
AEx2: Experience in using advanced technologies to survey migratory birds, such as transmitters, automated bird song recorders, etc;
AEx3: Experience in using statistical methods and analytical software such as the R software;
AEx4: Experience in consulting, mobilizing, collaborating with First Nations, governmental organizations (federal, provincial or municipal), education and research institutions, non-governmental organizations, or partners in the private sector;
AEx5: Experience in developing and/or managing protected areas.
