The successful candidate will have the opportunity to conduct research in the field of geomatics, modelling and spatial analysis. The focus of this research concerns modelling flood hazard zones in New Brunswick over future climate scenarios, incorporating sea level projections, subsidence and uplift post glacial retreat, tides and storm surge. The project will specifically be looking at areas in New Brunswick where dykes exist, with an aim to understand future flood risk and help make informed decisions for where to prioritize maintenance and improvement of existing dyke structures.
The successful student will have the opportunity to interact with CCMEO staff, researchers and technicians. The day-to-day work will take place at the University of New Brunswick (Fredericton campus).
The successful candidate should have a good work ethic, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to work in team environments.
Preference will be given to a Canadian citizen and a permanent resident of Canada .

Education: Currently enrolled or eligible to enroll in Master’s or PhD program in Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering Department, University of New Brunswick.
Experience:
• Experience in analyzing and understanding geospatial data.
• Experience in accessing and preprocessing spatial data.
• Experience in computer program development in Python.
• Experience in conducting literature reviews and summarizing information.
• Experience in writing research reports and making scientific presentations.
