Intent of the process

Intent to fill one (1) term position. A qualified pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff this position or similar positions or for future term, acting, assignment, secondment, deployment, or indeterminate opportunities.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Diploma or Certification in Mechanical Engineering Technology or in a related field through provincial associations of engineering/applied science. i.e. Machinist, Mechanical Techniques (1or 2 years)
OR
Certification from a recognized trade school as a locksmith
OR
a secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (see Note 1).

Note:
The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
- A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
- An acceptable* combination of education, training and/or experience.

*The possession of, or eligibility for, credentials such as a license, certificate, registration, letter, paper(s) or other documents that constitute acceptable evidence of occupational competence.

Degree equivalency

* Recent and **significant experience in the installation of security systems to various buildings and stand-alone equipment

**Significant experience providing technical physical security advice based on government and/or industry policy and standards.

* “Recent” refers to experience gained within the last five years
** “Significant experience” is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally
associated with the performance of duties on a continuous basis over approximately 2
years.
