OVERVIEW
The Centre for China Policy Research at Global Affairs Canada is recruiting for the Margaret Meagher Fellowship Program.

OBJECTIVES
Launched in 2021 by the North Asia Bureau of Global Affairs Canada, the Margaret Meagher Fellowship aims to deepen the Government of Canada’s understanding of China, and to foster the development of a next generation of Canadian policy makers and specialists who will be at the forefront in government, business, education and civil society.

DESCRIPTION
The fellowship will contribute knowledge to the area of China’s political and commercial system, social and environmental issues, and their impact on Canada-China relations. This PhD fellowship is ideally suited to a PhD student who wishes to pursue a career path bridging academia and policy making.

The position is a nine-month fellowship compensated through a bursary of up to $41,675. The fellowship may include contribution to statutory benefits (e.g. Employment Insurance).

EDUCATION
- Applicants must be residing in Canada or Canadian citizens or permanent residents who are currently enrolled full-time in PhD Studies at a recognized institution of higher learning in any of the following areas: Political Science, International Relations, Sociology, History, Economics or a related program, and who are pursuing a thesis related to the fields mentioned above which include a China specialty.

Degree equivalency

- Excellent oral, technical written and interpersonal communication skills in English or French
ABILITIES
- Ability to take guided initiative and to work in an organized fashion within a fast-paced environment, including flexibility in shifting between independent and collaborative work and demonstrate collegiality and professionalism
