Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) is a federal institution responsible for safeguarding our waters and managing Canada's fisheries and oceans resources. DFO helps to ensure healthy and sustainable aquatic ecosystems through habitat protection and sound science. We support economic growth in the marine and fisheries sectors, and innovation in areas such as aquaculture and biotechnology.
Real Property Safety and Security's (RPSS) mandate is to ensure the accommodation of departmental programs through the provision of real property in the region, by providing leadership and expertise in real property planning, strategic investment, divestiture, infrastructure life cycle management, facilities management, environmental management, and employee safety and security advisory services.
The Gulf Region RPSS team ensures the administration and daily operations of a diverse RP portfolio, including the Canadian Coast Guard College, the Canso Canal, Search and Rescue stations, Conservation and Protection detachments and satellite offices, DFO office space, laboratories, warehouse and storage spaces, light houses, field camps, and a number of smaller facilities. The Regional Manager, Asset Management, plays a key role in providing efficient, cost-effective building management and maintenance for these sites which are crucial for departmental sectors to deliver their mandated programs.
The intent of this selection process is to staff one position on an indeterminate basis in Moncton (New Brunswick) or Sydney (Nova Scotia). A list of qualified candidates may also be established and could be used to staff similar positions within the Gulf Region of Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
