Work environment

The successful candidates will have the opportunity to work from a Transport Canada office across Canada.

Intent of the process

The results of this process will initially be used to staff two (2) positions indeterminately with a BBB/BBB or CBC/CBC linguistic profile. However, in the case where the chosen candidate would not meet the official language proficiency, a bilingual non imperative appointment could be considered.

A pool of qualified candidates will be established to staff identical or similar positions with various tenures including various linguistic profiles such as (CBC/CBC, BBB/BBB) with Transport Canada.

✈ EDUCATION
ED1: Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

✈ OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
BOTH STREAMS
OC1:
• Possession of a valid Aviation Document Booklet.
• Possession of an valid Category 1 Aviation Medical.
• Possession of a Canadian Airline Transport Pilot Licence – Aeroplane Category with a Group 1 Instrument Rating that meets all applicable currency requirements to be able to exercise the privileges of the licence.
• Possession of a Restricted Radio-Telephone Operator Certificate (endorsed Aeronautical).

OR

• Possession of a valid Aviation Document Booklet.
• Possession of an valid Category 1 Aviation Medical.
• Possession of a Canadian Commercial Pilot Licence – Helicopter Category with a Group IV Instrument Rating that meets all applicable currency requirements to be able to exercise the privileges of the licence.
• Possession of a Restricted Radio-Telephone Operator Certificate (endorsed Aeronautical).

✈ OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
STREAM 1
OC2: Possession of a flight instructor rating (aeroplane or helicopter).

✈ EXPERIENCE
BOTH STREAMS
EX1: Experience in applying legislation, regulations, or policies for decision making purposes.
EX2: Experience in applying risk management concepts and principles.

✈ EXPERIENCE
STREAM 1
EX3: Total of 1500 hours of flight time, which includes 1,000 hours as pilot-in-command of which 200 hours is in either multiple engine aeroplanes OR Transport Category helicopters in both VFR and IFR operations.
EX4: Experience working as a training pilot, flight instructor in a flight training unit under CAR 406.

✈ EXPERIENCE
STREAM 2
EX5: Total of 2000 hours of flight time, which includes 1,000 hours as pilot-in-command of which 500 hours is in either multiple engine aeroplanes OR Transport Category helicopters in both VFR and IFR operations.
EX6: Experience working in aerodromes.
