The Competition Bureau is looking for dynamic, intellectually curious and creative people who thrive in a team environment. Your duties as a competition law officer may include:

• Conducting research and analysis on potential competition issues;
• Gathering information and evidence;
• Conducting interviews with senior business people or consumers;
• Conducting online investigations;
• In some cases, conducting economic analysis;
• In some cases, supporting the Bureau’s litigation before the courts; and
• Briefing and making recommendations to senior managers.

ISED is transitioning to a hybrid work environment to leverage the best of both in-person and virtual work to deliver results. This job has been identified as ‘hybrid’. Generally, employees in a hybrid job can anticipate working from their designated ISED location from two to three days per week.

Intent of the process

We may create a pool of qualified candidates to staff similar positions within Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada. These positions have various language requirements (Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB, English Essential, or English or French Essential). They have various security requirements (Reliability or Secret). They also have various tenures (indeterminate, deployment, acting, specified period, assignment, secondment).

Positions to be filled: The number and location of positions are to be determined. The positions may be located in Gatineau (Quebec), Montreal (Quebec), Toronto (Ontario) or Vancouver (British Columbia).

EDUCATION:

Currently enrolled in* or completed a Bachelor’s or Master's degree from a recognized university in Economics, Business Administration, Commerce, Law, Criminology, Public Administration, or Public Policy
OR
any other university degree combined with work experience relevant to the position.

- Eligibility for membership in the bar of any of the provinces or territories of Canada or in the Chamber of Notaries of Quebec.

- Master’s degree from a recognized university in a related field (Business Administration, Commerce, Law, Public Administration or Public Policy).

- Master’s degree from a recognized university in Economics.
