Duties

The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst will lead projects and programs in data governance, data quality and data management. They will have a key role in implementing the FCAC’s Data and Analytics Strategy. They will work closely with subject matter experts on other teams in the Agency and will collaborate with other business intelligence analysts and data architects within the IM/IT division.

Financial consumer protection is an integral part of the Government of Canada’s oversight of the financial sector. The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) ensures Federally Regulated Financial Entities (FRFEs) comply with consumer protection measures, promotes financial education and raises consumers’ awareness of their rights and responsibilities.

FCAC is a small separate agency subject to the Public Service Employment Act (PSEA). In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, economics, applied mathematics or statistics, or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Degree equivalency

Experience using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and Power BI;

Significant experience* querying and modelling data sources including data warehouse systems;

Significant experience* analyzing data from different business units horizontally to improve business processes, and to operationalize data analytic solutions; and,

Significant experience* with Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Analytics, including data mart, reporting models, and visualization (E.g., cubes, tabular models, datasets, dataflows in Power BI).


* Significant is defined as depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of those duties for a period of approximately two years.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with an acceptable specialization in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or other related area.

Degree equivalency

Microsoft Certification on cloud technologies relating to data analysis, data engineering and data science.

Experience using Purview, or comparable alternatives such as Informatica, Oracle Enterprise Manager.

Experience OR Microsoft Certification on Microsoft cloud technologies and platforms such as Dynamics 365, Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, and other Azure services that are not relating directly to data and analytics.

Experience of leading data management and data governance initiatives.

Experience with SPSS Statistics or Modeler, R or Python for data analysis.
