As a Senior Data Analyst, you will be called upon to:
✔ Lead data analytics projects that support Branch priorities, ensuring appropriate and relevant synthesis and analysis of data to enable the timely detection, prediction and response to compliance issues, the identification of trends and contribution to risk-based and data driven approaches for the Branch’s compliance activity.
✔ Initiate and lead activities to enable application of data analytics to support the supervision and enforcement functions, including data gathering, validating, cleansing, data mining and reporting.
✔ Develop or lead the development of data analytical products, reports, and other required documents, and ensures accuracy, completeness, clarity, and usefulness of such products to inform decision making.
✔ Collaborate with IM/IT and the Data Steward Network. Contribute to developing and maintaining data quality by identifying and discussing relevant issues with supervisors and clients.
✔ Proactively research available internal and external data sources and assesses, validates, and integrates them in the analytical processes.
✔ Present relevant research findings to the Manager, Branch management, and colleagues across the Agency as needed.
✔ Contribute to the development of the Division’s plans and priorities, as they relate to data science and data analytics and aims to strengthen the analytical capacity of the team to enable and enhance the supervision and enforcement business processes.
✨ Financial consumer protection is an integral part of the Government of Canada’s oversight of the financial sector. The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) ensures Federally Regulated Financial Entities (FRFEs) comply with consumer protection measures, promotes financial education and raises consumers’ awareness of their rights and responsibilities.

✔ Recent* and significant** experience in leading data science and/or data analytics projects involving large data sets that resulted in the development and implementation of machine learning models.
✔ Experience querying, cleansing, organizing and analyzing large data sets from various sources using tools such as IBM SPSS Modeler, SPSS Statistics, SAS, SQL, Python, and R.
✔ Experience in developing performance metrics and implementing them using business intelligence tools such as Power BI and Cognos.
✔ Experience developing and maintaining cross-functional collaboration as well as partnering with various stakeholders.
✔ Experience in preparing a variety of documents for senior management (e.g., reports, briefing notes, memoranda, correspondence, and presentations) for decision-making purposes.
