During the COVID-19 pandemic, federal employees demonstrated their ability to adapt to new ways of working both on-site and remotely, while delivering results for Canadians.The Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada is adopting a hybrid work style by combining on-site work with telework. The Manager Safety Management will be required to work on-site at 105 McGill Street in Montreal for two (2) days per week.
The current requirement is to fill one (1) Canadian Coast Guard Safety and Security Manager position.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established from this process to fill future positions that are identical or similar positions within the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada and the Canadian Coast Guard with employment tenures, language requirements, security requirements and work locations that may vary depending on the needs of the positions being staffed.

🎓 EDUCATION
Recognized post-secondary diploma in a field related to the duties of the position or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience related to the duties of the position.
📝 EXPERIENCE
EX1: Experience in managing system audits or program evaluation in a marine or shore operational environment.
EX2: Experience in consulting with and providing advice** to senior management (including fleet officers and/or shore based management) on complex issues.
(**This advice could include, but is not limited to presentations, briefing notes, etc.)
EX3: Experience in human resources management (which may include staffing processes, personnel management, HR planning and forecasting, labour relations).
EX4: Experience in financial management including managing a Responsibility Centre (RC) and budget.
EX5: Experience in writing incident investigation reports and/or marine investigations.
Bilingual - Imperative (CBC/CBC)

K1: Knowledge of Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) operational practices, in particular shore-based, fleet and helicopter operations.

🎓 OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION (ASSET)
Certificate of marine competency issued by Transport Canada or the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) or equivalent.
Successful completion of a recognized chief auditor training program.
Successful completion of a program in the area of accident investigation training.
📝 EXPERIENCE (ASSET)
AEX1: Experience in supervising staff.
AEX2: Experience in shipboard and shore operations with regards to all aspects of a Safety Management System.
AEXP3: Experience conducting internal safety management audits.
AEXP4: Experience managing emergencies.
