• Perform routine maintenance to flight simulator systems and conduct functional simulator pre-flight/checks including flight test and operation of systems.
• Isolate, identify and repair or replace defective components as well as adjusting and calibrating equipment to meet functional performance standards.
• Interface with flight crews to discuss performance and unserviceability of simulators after training exercises.
• Research flight simulator performance and equipment anomalies.
• Interchange the two Bell flight decks on the Canadian Coast Guard simulator.
We are a dynamic team responsible to maintain 3 full flight simulators (FFS) used by Transport Canada (C550 and C90A) and the Canadian Coast Guard (Bell 412EPI and Bell 429). We have a wide range of simulator technologies, so there is always something to learn and repair. We are a small team of 7 members supported by knowledgeable instructors that work closely with us to ensure the FFS are representative of their aircrafts. We rotate through two shifts 7:00-15:00 and 14:30 – 22:30 - flexible to adjust depending on personal needs. The work location is 200 Comet Private in Ottawa, Ontario. Employees will be required to report to the office on a full-time basis.

The results of this process will initially be used to staff one English essential position on either a term or indeterminate basis. Although there is one English position to be staffed, we strongly encourage bilingual candidates to apply as there will be a need for them to be bilingual for future promotion.
A pool of candidates may be created to staff similar or identical positions with various linguistic profiles (English Essential, Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB), various tenures (temporary or permanent) and/or various security clearance requirements (reliability or secret) depending on the position at Transport Canada.

Education:
ED: A secondary school diploma AND a completion of an acceptable program in electronics technology
OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Note: Normally, an acceptable training program in electronics technology involves the completion of two to three years of post-secondary study in this subject.
Experience:
EX1: Experience in troubleshooting hardware and/or software systems.
Asset Experience*:
AEX1: Experience in the operation and maintenance of full flight simulators.
AEX2: Experience in the operation and maintenance of avionics and/or aircraft systems.
*Note on Asset Experience: Asset qualifications are not mandatory qualifications to the position. You do not need to answer the screening questions for the assets qualifications. This process may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates which could be used to staff similar or identical positions with various language requirements and/or profiles.

Knowledge:
K1: Knowledge of analogue and digital electronic theory.
K2: Knowledge of computer systems operation, maintenance and troubleshooting including hardware.
K3: Knowledge in the use of modern test equipment.
Abilities:
A1: Ability to troubleshoot systems to identify deficiencies in the simulator hardware or software.
A2: Ability to interpret equipment condition information originating from deficiencies in logbooks.
A3: Ability to analyze and synthesize information, identify options and exercise judgment in order to determine the best solution.
