Intent of the process

The immediate intent of this process is to staff one (1) position indeterminately.

A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates will be established through this process to staff similar positions at Indigenous Services Canada with various tenures (indeterminate, specified period, deployment, acting, assignment, secondment), various official language proficiencies (such as English Essential, Bilingual BBB/BBB, etc.) and various security profiles (such as Reliability, Secret), which may vary according to the position being staffed.

EDUCATION

Graduation with a degree from a recognized school of Pharmacy.

Degree equivalency

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION

Eligibility for registration as a pharmacist in a province or territory of Canada.

EXPERIENCE

Experience conducting research and analysis to support strategies or decisions related to drug use.

Experience in clinical practice in a pharmacy or hospital setting, for a minimum of one year.

Recent* experience working as a pharmacist in a clinical or public health setting in Canada.

*Recent is defined as a minimum of one year in the last five years.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

ASSET EDUCATION

Doctoral degree in Pharmacy; or a Master’s degree in Clinical Pharmacy; or a Residency from a recognized post-secondary institution in Hospital Pharmacy, health economics, pharmacoeconomic, epidemiology, or biostatistics; or an advanced degree in some other specialty relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

ASSET EXPERIENCE

Experience working with First Nations or Inuit stakeholders.

Experience in providing pharmaceutical advice to *Senior management or authorities.

*Senior management is defined as Director or equivalent and above.

Experience in the analysis of data related to drug utilization.

Experience working with a drug plan.

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of current pharmaceutical practice and therapeutics which includes but is not limited to current guidelines, current medication use, terminology, drug classification.

Knowledge of model pharmacy standards of practice for pharmacies in Canada.

Knowledge of principles of evidence based medicine including Health Technology Assessment.

Knowledge of relevant federal legislation, such as the Canada Health Act, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, the Food and Drug Act, and provincial regulations regarding the prescribing, dispensing and procurement of pharmaceuticals.

Knowledge of Provincial/Territorial drug plans.

Proof of citizenship:

All applicants who are new to the federal public service must provide proof of citizenship or permanent residency prior to their appointment. Note: that there is a fee to receive this certificate and the displayed wait time for the production of the certificate may be several months, however; requiring proof of citizenship in order to obtain employment would be considered an urgent reason, significantly reducing the wait time.

Depending on the number of applicants, needs and/or plans, volume management strategies such as, but not limited to, top-down approach, cut-off scores, asset selection, random selection and/or assessment may be used for the purpose of managing applications/candidates and/or determining which candidates will continue in the staffing process. Should a volume management strategy be used, communication regarding the application of the strategy will be provided to those candidates who are impacted.
