Assessment accommodation

The responses to the screening questions MAY be used to assess the ability to communicate effectively in writing.

By joining our team, you will have opportunity to provide direct support to health services and community based programming. You will build and support strong working relationships with First Nations and Inuit communities, families, and individuals, with a focus on improving health outcomes and reducing health risks.

Candidates must clearly demonstrate with concrete examples, IN THE PRE-SCREENING QUESTIONS, how they meet the education and experience factors listed in the essential qualifications. Only screening questionnaire will be used during pre-screening process. We may use resumes as a secondary source to validate the answers to the pre-screening questions. Work environment

Currently we are using a hybrid telework schedule where we are working in the office as well as working from home. The department is actively working on a flexible, phased approach for the safe return of employees to their workspaces.

Intent of the process

This process will be used to create a pool of qualified candidates to staff positions with various tenures (term, indeterminate, acting appointment) within Indigenous Services Canada.

EDUCATION
•A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training or experience relevant to the position.

Note: the employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are: A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience relevant to the position(s) being staffed.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
•Experience actively participating in meetings or information sessions
•Experience researching and providing verbal and written advice and recommendations to management
•Experience using both Word and Excel
•Experience working with First Nations, Inuit, or Metis people or Indigenous organizations.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Indigenous Services of Canada (ISC) is committed to Employment Equity. Conditions of employment

• Security Clearance: Reliability or Secret (depending on the position being staffed).
• Valid class 5 driver’s license or mobility equivalent to the possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Travel is a requirement including travel to remote communities over variable road conditions for long distances by automobile, snowmobile, or various types of vehicles, fly in a helicopter or large/small airplane or travel by boat. Travel may be during inclement weather conditions.
• Willingness and ability to work over-time, sometimes on short notice.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
